Family is the pillow of society second only to God.  Family provides the strength and foundation needed to rise to life’s challenges.  The Alston family has a very rich history to share with its family members.  This history entrusted to us from our ancestors ensures their living legacy and testimony continues to live on.  Knowing your family instills integrity, pride and sound life skills that affect every aspect of life.
Our team has been researching the Alston-Aulston-Austin Family for more than forty years.  As a next phase, we are creating a web page so that our family can interact with each other in real time.  Some of you recall our first Family Reunion in Charleston, South Carolina during July 2005, and our second Reunion in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania during July 2007, where we met many who we never knew.  Some of us have stayed in contact and our hope is to enrich those relationships.
Through our research, we learned that there are at least three variations to the spelling of our family's last name.  The United States Census reports that the spellings are ALSTON, AULSTON, and AUSTIN.  However, despite the different spellings the entire family was on Wadmalaw Island, South Carolina during multiple census periods and through oral history confirmations.  Thus far we traced our family from 1815 (approximately 205 years) to the present.
Seeing dreams turned into reality is very rewarding and reassuring. It is our hope that each family will add substantiated evidence that will enable us to show a more comprehensive picture of our family’s history.
